Propanol
From Distillers Wiki
Propanol, sometimes known as 1-propyl alcohol, is a higher alcohol with a three carbon atoms and a general formula of Carbon|C3Hydrogen|H7hydroxyl|OH of the form:
H H H

H - C - C - C - OH
| | |
H H H
Propanol boils at 97,1 'C
There is an another isomer of this compound, 2-propanol (sometimes named isopropyl alcohol, or isopropanol for brevity):
H H H
| | |
H - C - C - C - H
/ | \
H OH H
Collectively, the two isomers are known informally as propanol (sometimes called propyl alcohol). At room temperature and pressure, both isomers are clear, colorless liquids.
Both can be used as a solvent or for various other chemical uses. 2-propanol is commonly used as "rubbing alcohol" or as an antiseptic. It is also used as a petrol additive for dissolving water or ice in fuel lines.
