Licensing questions =

Apologies if this ain't the proper place to be asking questions, but the discussion page is locked, so here we go.

I'm looking around here at this wiki and I see that it could (and probably will be) a thousand times more useful in than all the newsgroup archives and messageboard posts in the world. A good start would be to get some applicable articles from the overstuffed wikipedia and copy them here because they've got tons of stuff relevant to this endeavor that could be tweaked for relevance. Check out Malt liqour or even vegimite. I'm sure there are hundreds of directly applicable pages that could fill in a lot of the glaring red links around here. The main thing is - does homedistiller wiki compatible with the GNU Free Documentation license? If no, then wikipedia pages can't be forked here, as per the GNUFDL preamble:

The purpose of this License is to make a manual, textbook, or other functional and useful document "free" in the sense of freedom: to assure everyone the effective freedom to copy and redistribute it, with or without modifying it, either commercially or noncommercially. Secondarily, this License preserves for the author and publisher a way to get credit for their work, while not being considered responsible for modifications made by others.
This License is a kind of "copyleft", which means that derivative works of the document must themselves be free in the same sense. It complements the GNU General Public License, which is a copyleft license designed for free software.

The second thing is, does anyone want to bother? My main though was that it might just save a lot of work and I suspect people tend to be more free with the editing if they're working on an article with some content already. Lowerarchy 20:45, 7 March 2007 (PST)
