Courvoisier is a type of cognac. Courvoisier is famous for being the favorite drink of Napoleon who always kept several barrels while campaigning in Europe. He also ensured the cognac was sent with him to St Helena and Elba during his exile and banishment. The first courvoisier producing company was established by Felix Courvoisier in 1835. This brand in particular has become part of African-American popular culture, belying its image as a drink for upper class Brits. The American rapper Busta Rhymes wrote a song "Pass The Courvoisier" in which he declares his preference for Courvoisier over Hennessy and Remy Martin Cognacs and Cristal Champagne: "Give me the Henny, you can give me the Cris \ You can pass me the Remi, but the pass the Courvoisier." Courvoisier is also known as being the favorite drink of Leon Phelps (a.k.a. The Ladies Man, an African-American character from a popular Saturday Night Live skit.
