Tropical evergreen shrub whose beanlike seeds are roasted and ground to produce a drink of the same name. Coffee grows best on frost-free hillsides with moderate rainfall. The world's largest producers are Brazil, Colombia, and the Ivory Coast. Coffee is also used in a number of spirits, particularly liqueur.
